We believe that your health and activity data belongs entirely to you. This Privacy Policy outlines our strict commitment to your privacy, detailing exactly what data we collect, how we use it, andāmost importantlyāwhat we absolutely will never do with it.

3. The "Muckeen Promise" (Our Core Privacy Principles)
To participate in our leaderboards, you must grant us access to your activity data from Garmin Connect and/or Apple Health. In return, we make the following strict promises:
We only use your data for our core service: Creating your personal aggregations and public leaderboards.
We never sell your data: Your data will never be sold to data brokers, information resellers, or any third parties.
No advertising: We will never use your activity or health data for advertising, marketing, or retargeting purposes.
4. Information We Collect
To provide our services, we collect the following types of information:
A. Account Information
When you create a Muckeen account, we collect:
Your name or chosen display name/handle.
Your email address.
Your profile picture (optional).
B. Activity Data (via Garmin and Apple)
With your explicit consent, we connect via API to Garmin Connect and/or Apple HealthKit to retrieve specific sports activity data. We only request the minimum data required to generate leaderboards, which includes:
Activity types (e.g., running, cycling, swimming).
Activity metrics (e.g., distance, duration, elevation gain, timestamps).
5. Specific Terms for Garmin Connect Users
If you connect your Garmin account to Muckeen, please be aware of the following:
Explicit Consent: We will only receive your Garmin data after you explicitly authorize the connection via Garminās secure OAuth portal.
Data Usage: Your Garmin data is used exclusively to populate Muckeenās leaderboards and your personal activity dashboards.
Revoking Access: You can disconnect Muckeen and revoke our access to your Garmin data at any time directly from your Muckeen account settings, or by removing Muckeen from the "Account Information > Connected Apps" section within your Garmin Connect account.
6. Specific Terms for Apple Health (HealthKit) Users
If you connect your Apple Health account to Muckeen, the following strict conditions apply to comply with Appleās Developer Guidelines:
HealthKit Data: We do not use or disclose HealthKit data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or other use-based data mining purposes.
Data Brokers: We do not sell HealthKit data to data brokers or information resellers.
Purpose: HealthKit data is used solely to provide health, motion, and fitness services natively on the Muckeen platform (i.e., your leaderboards and aggregations).
7. How We Use Your Data
We process your data exclusively for the following purposes:
Providing the Service: To fetch your activity data, calculate aggregations, and display your stats.
Public Leaderboards: To rank your performance against other Muckeen users. Note: By joining a Muckeen leaderboard, you consent to your display name, profile picture, and relevant activity metrics being visible to other users on the platform.
Customer Support: To assist you if you experience technical issues.
8. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, we process your personal and activity data based on Explicit Consent (Article 6(1)(a) and Article 9(2)(a) for health-related data).
You provide this consent when you actively connect your Garmin or Apple accounts to Muckeen. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time by disconnecting your accounts and deleting your Muckeen profile.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Active Accounts: We retain your account information and synced activity data for as long as your account is active.
Account Deletion: You can delete your Muckeen account at any time via your account settings. Upon deletion, we will permanently and irreversibly erase your personal data and activity history from our live databases within 30 days.
Garmin/Apple Disconnection: If you disconnect Garmin or Apple but leave your Muckeen account open, we will stop receiving new data. You can choose to clear your historical data from your Muckeen settings.
10. Data Security
We implement robust technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. Data transferred between Garmin/Apple and Muckeen is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS. Data at rest is securely stored on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA).
11. Your Data Protection Rights
Under Irish and EU law, you have the following rights:
The Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
